Underground phenom Mark de Clive-Lowe shares this nu-jazzy, syncopated groove called "Running For Nothing" with us, originally recorded with Philly soul veteran Lady Alma in 2009. Listen to the song below, read Mark's anecdote on its synthesis after the jump, and come see the two perform tonight at Club Drom NYC, along with DJ Carlos Mena and Nia Andrews.

The first collaboration Lady Alma and I did in person was this jam - Running for Nothing. I was living in London and Alma came around to the house to work. I pulled up some tracks and this was the first of 6 we knocked out in 3 days. Alma was truly on FIRE that week. Before this we'd done some 'virtual collabs' - I'd co-remixed with DJ Spinna as Spacecadets for Rednose Distrikt feat Lady Alma 'Gotta Make A Move'; with Phil Asher as Musiclovelife remixing DJ Mitsu the Beats feat Lady Alma 'Away' and my own remix for Yukihiro Fukutomi's 'Peace' feat Lady Alma... so this jam, and the many after were long overdue!
