Larry Wilmore has officially been upgraded from "Senior Black Correspondant" on The Daily Show to the face of Comedy Central's 11:30pm slot, batting clean up for the show he once provided a crucial black perspective for with his own Minority Report. With Stephen Colbert taking his talents to CBS's post-primetime thrown -- replacing its longtime king David Letterman--  Wilmore's sharp prose and über-sarcastic delivery will make for a fine replacement of Colbert's own character, which we still can't be sure is a character until he makes the jump.

The Colbert Report will air its final show on December 15th, making way for Wilmore's new program in January. For those unfamiliar with Wilmore, he's been a part of the writing staffs for some heavy-hitting programs, co-creating The Bernie Mac Show and Eddie Murphy's The PJs and writing for In Living ColorThe Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, The Jamie Foxx Show and more. So clearly there's no shortage of credentials. We'll have more on Wilmore's transition to the 11:30 slot as details on Minority Report become unveiled.
