Just Blaze Uses Periscope To Document Police Stop For Driving While Black
Just Blaze, the prolific producer known for his work on multiple Jay Z albums, was racially profiled and pulled over today by police. His principal crime, besides being black, was driving a nice car.
“Is your car legit?” The law enforcement agents inquired.
It of course was and luckily Just Blaze was able to drive away safe, but not before live streaming the incident on Periscope and heading to Twitter to air out his grievances.
Yasiin Bey, on the song Mr. Nigga off his classic 1999 album Black on Both Sides rapped about the prevalence of racism, white supremacist thought, and police abuse despite achieving success as a black artist:
No evidence, no apology and no regard
Even for the big american rap star
For us especially, us most especially
A Mr Nigga VIP jail cell just for me
Perhaps realizing their blunder in pulling over a black celebrity, Just Blaze has said that the police department, probably after listening to Bey's 1999 song, contacted him apologizing and offered to buy him dinner. He's probably good on the offer. Watch the video below.
On Mr. Nigga Bey continues:
If white boys doing it, well, it's success
When I start doing, well, it's suspect
Don't hate me, my folks is poor, I just got money
America's five centuries deep in cotton money
You see a lot of brothers caked up, yo straight up
It's new, y'all living off of slave traders paper
But I'm a live though, yo I'm a live though
I'm putting up the big swing for my kids yo
Got my mom the fat water-front crib yo
I'm a get her them pretty bay windows
I'm a cop a nice home to provide in
A safe environment for seeds to reside in
A fresh whip for my whole family to ride in
And if I'm still Mr Nigga, I won't find it suprising
