Someone Has Finally Bought The Wu-Tang Clan's "One Of A Kind" LP For Over $1 Million

It's indeed true that Cash Rules Everything Around Me, and according to new reports, The Wu-Tang Clan is now much, much richer. According to Pigeons & Planes, the hip-hop collective has found a buyer for their very special/extremely-limited LP Once Upon a Time In Shaolin. Yes, that one--the one that was teased by Forbes. The one that was locked up in a mysterious vault in Morocco. The one that, allegedly, won't enter public domain for another 88 years thanks to some creative copyright legalese. That one; someone actually bought it, and is now the only person on earth entitled to listening to it. What a time to be alive.

A "private American collector" reported paid a final price tag "in the millions" to lay claim to Once Upon A Time in Shaolin. In a press release announcing the sale, the Wu-Tang LP is described as “a retrospective soundscape that threads 31 songs, skits, and stories into a 128-minute-long aural screenplay." The record will be shipped to the buyer with a "hand-carved nickel silver box designed by Yahya, a gold-leafed certificate of authenticity and a leather-bound book containing the album’s lyrics and stories behind each song, [and] an addition that had not been previously announced: a pair of customized PMC MB2-XBD speakers worth $55,000, included after consultation with PMC.”

Again--what a time to be alive.
