The Beastie Boys' Adam "MCA" Yauch tragically passed away one year ago tomorrow due to throat cancer. To honor his legacy, Brooklyn's Palmetto Playground has been renamed Adam Yauch Park.  Many gathered today for the park christening ceremony. Adam "Ad Rock" Horovitz's speech can be seen below.

In other Beastie News, a fascinating interview with the rap trio from 1985 has not only resurfaced, but is accompaniedy an animation courtesy of Blank on Blank. The interview is taken from a period when the Beasties were on tour with Madonna and has excellent quotes on being arrested for profanity and what it was like to be a hip-hop act opening for a pop superstar.
