New 'Atlanta' Clip Explores City, Includes Migos Cameo

Donald Glover Drops New Promo For FX Series 'Atlanta'

September is going to be a great month for new black TV series. Aside from Netflix's forthcoming Luke Cage we're also going to be getting Donald Glover's highly anticipated FX show Atlanta, and today another promo clip dropped for the latter.

Unlike previous videos that have often been short in length, this particular one clocks in at almost four minutes and features two side-by-side screens displaying different sequences of events happening in the same area. Fittingly titled "Inhale Atlanta" the visuals take you through different parts of the city, as the natural sound of car horns, rotating bike chains and passing trains soundtrack everything.

You also immediately notice from the jump just how black this TV show is going to be, in the sense that almost every sequence features a black person. It's beautiful to see — there's only one moment where a white person is visible throughout the clip, and it's to make fun of Glover's character's choice of alcohol.

"I wanted to show white people, you don't know everything about black culture," Glover said in an interview with Vulture. In this video you're getting so much, all of it beautifully shot and showing all parts of a city that hasn't ever been represented like this on TV before.

But the best part of the entire thing? Migos make a very special cameo. That's right, one of Atlanta's hottest rap exports makes an appearance in the show. It's brief but so nice, popping up halfway through the entire teaser.

Aside from Atlanta Glover is also expected to drop a new album that same week as the show's debut, presumably titled Pharos. He'll be debuting the follow up to 2014's STN MTN/kauaiat a camp out festival in California's Joshua Tree national park.

Until then, check out the new preview video below.
