Watch Dave Chappelle And Jon Stewart Discuss Louis C.K., Bill Cosby & Donald Trump In New Interview

Source: CNN

Comedians Dave Chappelle and Jon Stewart are currently on a joint headlining comedy tour. During their stop in London ahead of two back-to-back performances at the Royal Albert Hall, the pair did an interview with CNN International journalist Christiane Amanpour where they discussed Donald Trump, Louis C.K., Bill Cosby and more.

In regards to Trump, Chappelle spoke on his hateful rhetoric and how Russia’s interference in the 2016 presidential election doesn’t dismiss the reality that America has and continues to be racist.

“I would not even name the era after him….He’s not making the wave, he’s surfing it,” Chappelle said. “All he does is sing those people’s greatest hits. ‘Build the Wall,’ all these things we’ve heard before, he just sings all the songs. He’s the only one that’s been brash enough to do it.”

And still, Russia is not all to blame, the comic said. “Even when they say that Russia influenced the election, it’s kind of like, Is Russia making us racist? Is that who’s doing it?” Chappelle asked. “Oh, OK, oh my God, thank goodness — I thought it was us…. If they kill the country that way then we’re the murder weapon.”

The pair then spoke on Louis C.K. and the idea of restorative justice following the comedian’s numerous sexual misconduct allegations from last year. Louis recently made his return to stand-up comedy, where he reportedly received a standing ovation (although there were some complaints about his surprise appearance too).

“What should he do to come back onstage or is he doing the righ thing?” Amanpour asked.

“There is no recipe, there is no model that can be put together and say ‘If he did one, two and three everybody would be cool.’ I don’t think it works that way…I’m a believer in restorative justice in the idea that when transgression occur the parties must participate together to bring themselves to some conclusion.”

Prior to that, Chappelle also speaks on Bill Cosby and the comedian being sentenced to prison after being found guilty of sexual assault.

“It’s a nightmare to see a hero fall that heinously,” Chappelle said on Cosby. “Seeing him get perp-walked at 81 was devastating for every black comedian.”
