The rapper is reportedly releasing his new album Jesus Is King soon.

Kanye West has been garnering attention for his Christian rap performances over the past few months. The artist's pastor, Adam Tyson recently unveiled in an interview that he has considered leaving rap music altogether. According to XXL, Tyson spoke with Christian-based media outlet Apologia Studios about the rapper's recent awakening.

In the interview, Tyson, senior pastor at Placerita Bible Church in Newhall, California shared, "[Kanye] started visiting our church back in mid-May." Kanye asked to speak with Tyson after attending a few services and reportedly said, "About five weeks ago, I got radically saved." Tyson also noted that Kanye began telling him a bit about his testimony.

"The weight of sin" from fame and the music industry allegedly caused Kanye to turn to Christianity according to Tyson. "The guilt of sin brought him down low," Tyson shares. "He would say the devil basically brought him to a place where he just felt like he was in bondage to his sin. So he said, 'I got delivered.'"

During one point of the interview, Tyson broke down when Kanye considered leaving rap.

"One time, he told me that he wasn't going to rap," shared Tyson. In response he said, "'Why not?' He said, 'Well that's the devil's music.' I said, 'Hey, man. Rap is a genre. You can rap for God.' I think he was already thinking about it a little bit, but I just definitely said, 'Hey, bro. I think you need to use your talents that God's given you and use that platform for God.'"

Kanye ultimately chose to not step away from rap music. He recently has been traveling and performing gospel-themed Sunday Service performances. His upcoming album Jesus Is King accompanied by an IMAX film is set to release on October 25.
