The NBA has announced that it is suspending the season until further notice. The announcement was made on Wednesday after Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert tested positive for the coronavirus, according to The Athletic.

Gobert's positive test result was reported right before the Jazz was set to play the Okhlamoa City Thunder at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. (Gobert was not in the arena before the game; according to reports, he was feeling fine and ready to play.)

Players were on the court taking part in warmups when players walked off the court. ESPN Reporter Royce Young said he saw Thunder's doctor "sprinting" out to the court moments before tipoff.

The game was canceled shortly after. Both teams were quarantined and not allowed to leave Chesapeake.

The suspension is set to go in effect after the NBA games on Wednesday. In fact, the news was broken by ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski in the middle of Dallas Mavericks vs. Denver Nuggets happening at the American Airlines Center in Dallas.

Earlier in the day, the NCAA announced that fans will not be able to attend 2020 men's and women's NCAA Tournament games, which are set to kick off later this month.
