On Friday, February 15th, Colin Kaepernick's lawyer Mark Geragos released a statement saying that Kaepernick and Reid have resolved their grievances with the NFL privately. There will be no trial; and neither of the parties will comment on the matter further.

Meaning that Kaepernick and Reid agreed to a settlement and the NFL is probably going to have to pay a lot of money.

The NFL Players Association soon released a statement saying they support the decision:

We continuously supported Colin and Eric from the start of their protests, participated with their lawyers throughout their legal proceedings and were prepared to participate in the upcoming trial in pursuit of both truth and justice for what believe the NFL and its clubs did to them," the union said in the statement. "We are glad that Eric has earned a job and a new contract and we continue to hope that Colin gets his opportunity as well.

This has been a years-long battle for Kaepernick. In 2016, he was the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem, a gesture he did to protest police brutality. After that season, he's had trouble signing to another team. By the beginning of the 2017 season, he filed a grievance against the NFL, accusing the league of collusion. A couple of months later, Reid filed his own grievance

Interestingly enough, Reid is back in the NFL and still protesting. It's unclear how this settlement will affect that.
