Killer Mike & El-P Raise $10,000 For 'Meow The Jewels' - Their Cat Sounds Remix Of The Critically-Acclaimed 'Run The Jewels' LP.
Run The Jewels teams with Zack De La Rocha on the new track "Close Your Eyes" (And Count To Fuck) from the forthcoming Run The Jewels II LP, due out October 27th. This joint, which premiered via BuzzFeed, follows the duo's induction into the Mass Appeal family and the more recent Meow The Jewels cat sounds remix LP campaign. Characteristically hardbody, "Close Your Eyes" runs on a fast-paced loop of De La Rocha's vocal combined with back breaking percussion. El-P breaks down exactly how he and Killer Mike ended up working on the track with the Rage frontman:
“We worked on music together in the late 90’s after Rage broke up but it never came out. We remained friends, though, and when I was in L.A. working on the record I bumped in to him literally on the way to the studio. He came by and listened to what we had and a day later was recording with us.”
