Rick Rubin Discusses Working With The Stars With Zane Lowe At Malibu's Legendary Shangri La Studios

Rick Rubin's name is one that is synonymous with greatness not just in hip-hop, but in the music industry as a whole. He recently invited BBC's Zane Lowe to Shangri La Studios to discuss his immeasurable career at one of the most legendary studios on the planet. He touches on his work with Kanye West on Yeezus and how when Ye came to him he had 3 hours of music and no words written yet. The bearded board-wizard speaks to how detail-oriented Eminem is and what their exchanges were like in recording the sequel to The Marshall Mathers LP, arguably his best since the breakout prior installment.

Rubin goes on to describe how a dinner-theater touring Johnny Cash came to him not knowing the greatness he was still capable of, as Rubin promised him his best record to date. It's about as up close and personal as the veiled producer has ever been and of course Zane Lowe's laid back "let em' breathe" approach gives the mad-scientist of the studio the space he needs to let his soft spoken and reserved temperament really flourish. For all the industry insight --plus a whole lot more -- tune in down below and check back for the latest from Rick Rubin's studio magic.
