Prince's Paisley Park Approved To Officially Open As A Museum

After months of deliberation, teasing and toiling with our purple hearts, Prince's home/studio/rehearsal space/venue BKA Paisley Park, is officially open for business. Months ago, it was announced that not only would the house that Prince built be converted into a Graceland-like shrine in honor of the purple one, but that tours of the compound would begin this fall.

Plans were shook up a few weeks back when Chanhassen City Council opted to table a motion that would rezone Paisley Park for tourism, citing concerns that the proceedings were moving along at too quick a pace and deserved to be mulled over more as an attraction that could potentially bring in upwards of 600,000 tourists to the estate. But yesterday morning, CCC signed off on the rezoning, which will allow Paisley Park to permanently operate as a museum. Joel Weinshanker of Graceland Holdings (which is overseeing Paisley Park's operations) offered his take on the museum's opening to The Star Tribune:

“Prince’s museum is going to outlive us all.”

And let's hope that remains the case. Paisley Park opens for tours this Thursday. It's time to book that trip.
