Four Charged for Home-Invasion Murder of Brooklyn Rapper Pop Smoke

Two teens and two adults have been charged for Pop Smoke's fatal shooting in a Hollywood Hills rental home.

On July 14 four people, including two adults and two teens were charged in connection with Pop Smoke's death in Los Angeles. According to an ABC report Corey Walker, 19 and Keandre Rodgers, 18 were each charged "with what authorities said was murder with special circumstance allegation."

Since the killing took place during "the commission" of a robbery and a burglary Walker and Rodgers are eligible for the death penalty. The report also notes they both may have gang ties.

The additional two defendants ages 17 and 15 were charged with one count of murder and robbery each in juvenile court.

Last week on July 9, five people were arrested by the Los Angeles Police Department in connection to the murder of 20-year-old Brooklyn rapper Pop Smoke. His death ravaged the hip-hop community when it was announced earlier this year in February.

According to TMZ, three adults and two juveniles were taken into custody. At the moment it’s unclear what charges each of them will face, each of them will have interviews with LAPD officers followed by being booked. No further information has been made available.

A spokesperson from the LAPD Media Relations Division shared the following, “Early this morning, search and arrest warrants were served in several locations in the city of Los Angeles.” They continued by adding: "The warrants were all related to the February 19 murder of Bashar Jackson, also known as Pop Smoke. Robbery-Homicide Division has three adult males and two juvenile males in custody. Once they are questioned and completely booked, we will be able to provide the booking information."

Pop Smoke who was on a meteoric rise was fatally shot in a rental property in the Hollywood Hills in February. Following the shooting, details emerged that numerous masked gunmen committed the crime. An emergency call was placed at approximately 4:30 a.m., according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The incident was regarded as a “home invasion robbery” four months ago. The LAPD has publicly stated it doesn’t agree that the incident was a “targeted hit” as TMZ has previously declared. The rapper wasn’t alone in the home when the shooting took place. He later died at the hospital.

Last Friday, July 3, Pop Smoke’s posthumous album Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon released. The release was marked by features from 50 Cent, Roddy Rich, Quavo, and more.

Following the release of Pop Smoke's newest album, each track on the release has landed on this week's Billboard Hot 100 chart. The highest-charting song is "For The Night" featuring Da Baby and Lil Baby.
