This 4th of July at the White House is going to be a good one. Kendrick Lamar and Janelle Monáe are set to perform this Monday on the White House's South Lawn, according to White House press secretary Josh Earnest. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama will be in attendance as will members of the military and their family. There will be a barbecue and fireworks.
Kendrick Lamar seems to be cozying up to the residence of The President Of The United States.Lamar made a historic visit there this past October. Read more about it here. Obama even picked Kendrick over Drake when posed the question of who was the better MC. Obama even cited "How Much A Dollar Cost" off To Pimp A Butterfly as his favorite song of the year. Not too shabby.
This also isn't Monáe's first time at the White House. Back in April, Monáe and other artists talked about reforming the criminal justice system. Monáe was also at the White House to record a song with the FLOTUS's "Let Girls Learn" initiative. Monáe was even at the White House before that a few years ago performing at an Easter Egg Roll. Peep the footage of that here.
