GoldLink has been perhaps the most mercurial of the XXL's 2015 Freshman Class. His indisputable talents on the mic have made him one of the most coveted young voices in the game, lining him up for a debut record with hip-hop's legendary power house, Rick Rubin at the helm. Today we're being treated to yet another proof of his prowess, as the DMV rhymer stitches together some brilliant bars in his freshman freestyle, the perfect venue for his sharp tongue and deeply poignant lyricism. GL takes it back to the pyramids and back, positing a moving spoken-word defense of the culture and exposing exploitation with spirit and power. I don't know about the rest of you, but if these are the types of sentiments GoldLink is mulling around in just these 70-some seconds then we may have a socially-sharp titan on our hands for years to come. You can watch GoldLink get busy and prove he's top of the class in his freshman freestyle below, but don't shy away from checking out fellow classmates Raury and Vince Staples in their own segments and make sure to peep his forthcoming tour dates to catch the lyrical flames live and direct.
