With some of the most acclaimed recordings of the year dawning from the Brainfeeder camp, Flying Lotus & Co. have made it crystalline that they’re building their very own musical mothership. And what better manner to cement their interstellar ways than a full-blown showcase at one of their hub’s most celebrated venues? On September 17th, the Brainfeeder vessel will land upon the Hollywood Bowl stage with the full force of their roster, save for Kamasi Washington (who’s slated for his own cosmic trip with Pharoah Sanders and The Sun Ra Arkestra this spring.)
FlyLo is slated to headline, but the show will also feature slots from Thundercat, Shabazz Palaces and The Gaslamp Killer, not to mention a more than fitting performance from Dr. Funkenstein himself, George Clinton, who will hit the stage with Parliament Funkadelic. Those that have kept up with Brainfeeder over the year know damn-well of their rigorously collaborative spark, perhaps best embodied by the supergroup WOKE (FlyLo, Cat, Shabazz and Clinton) and with each party accounted for, we could be set for a live and direct debut of the highest order. Also, this is, of course, their hometown we’re talking about here, so you never know who might pop up when the time comes. So brace yourself, good people, Brainfeeder’s about to land in a big way.
