Drake’s Summer Sixteen Is The Highest-Grossing Hip-Hop Tour Of All Time

Drake spent much of 2016 crushing streaming records and the Billboard charts, and now he has another accomplishment: the highest grossing hip-hop tour of all time.

PollStarPro reports that Drake’s “Summer Sixteen Tour” with Future grossed $84.3 million through 56 shows. Those sales dethrone the Watch The Throne tour by Jay Z and Kanye West, which grossed $75.6 million through 63 dates, according to The Fader.

The other top rap tours of 2016 included Kanye’s Saint Pablo Tour, which earned $52.8 million, and the Bad Boy Reunion Tour, which grossed $17.5 million. But hip-hop’s sales paled in comparison to the tours of other genres. Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band topped 2016 with $268.3 million, followed by Beyoncé on $256.2 million, Coldplay with $241 million, Guns N’ Roses with $188.4 million, and Adele with $167.7 million.

Along with the news regarding the Summer Sixteen Tour, Drake also had a year for the record books with record sales and accolades. His single “One Dance” was streamed over one billion times, and his album Views was streamed over three billion times. The album earned him multiple Grammy nominations.
