Barack and Michelle Obama Sign Exclusive Podcast Deal With Spotify

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to amplify voices that are too often ignored or silenced altogether."

Barack and Michelle Obama are getting into the podcast game.

On Thursday (June 6), Spotify announced that the former President and First Lady’s production company, Higher Ground, inked a partnership deal to produce podcasts exclusive to the streaming platform.

Under this multi-year deal, the Obamas will develop, produce, and possibly host select podcasts on a variety of topics.

This podcast deal is similar to the production deal the Obamas signed with Netflix last year.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to amplify voices that are too often ignored or silenced altogether, and through Spotify, we can share those stories with the world,” Michelle Obama said in a statement.

“We’ve always believed in the value of entertaining, thought-provoking conversation,” President Obama said in a statement. “It helps us build connections with each other and open ourselves up to new ideas. We’re excited about Higher Ground Audio because podcasts offer an extraordinary opportunity to foster productive dialogue, make people smile and make people think, and, hopefully, bring us all a little closer together.”
