Sheck Wes just landed his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week with his hit “Mo Bamba” debuting at No. 82.
The 19-year-old Senegalese-American artist named the song after the center for the NBA’s Orlando Magic, Mohamed Bamba, whom he grew up with in Harlem.
“Mo Bamba,” produced by 16yrold, was posted to SoundCloud a year ago, while it’s official video dropped late January. Celebrity cosigns from the likes of Drake, Shaquille O’Neal, Drake, Odell Beckham Jr. and others, helped the track pick up traction.

Drizzy and Wes also performed the song together at the former’s Aug. 22 concert in Toronto. Wes also has featured vocals on the studio version of “Sicko Mode” which debuted at No. 4 on the Hot 100 chart.
