Roc Nation is Helping Lil Uzi Vert with His Record Label Situation

Lil Uzi Vert is back in the studio, thanks to Roc Nation. Uzi posted an Instagram Story previewing a verse of his, tagging JAY-Z' label above an emoji-punctuated call to "Free Uzi."The label now solely manages the rapper, according to Complex.

The move suggests that Uzi is working to officially cut ties withhis record label Generation Now, where co-foundersDJ Drama and Don Cannon have supposedly made moves to stall the rapper's releases. (A contribution Uzi made to Nav'sBad Habitscut "Habits" was scrapped from the project after Drama and Cannon failed to clear the verse for legal use.

If you want your album 2 drop be patient let the guilty answer all the blogs. FREE UZI," Lil Uzi Vert wrote on a separate Story post, calling for his freedom yet again, and possibly hinting at his disputes with Generation Now.

This isn't Roc Nation's first stint at playing superhero, having swooped in to assist Lil Wayne in releasingFree Weezy Albumin 2015, amid hindrances from his label Cash Money. The project was released exclusively on TIDAL.

Back in January, Uzi took to Instagram Stories to thanks his fans and announce his retirement, saying "I'm done with music, I deleted everything. I wanna be normal." This announcement brought the rollout of Eternal Atake, his long-awaited follow up to 2017's Love Is Rage 2, to a halt. The album was supposed to arrive sometime in 2019.

Roc Nation's assistance in getting the Lil Uzi Vert back in the studio could be the first steps in getting the Eternal Atake ball rolling again.
