Lil Uzi Vert Claims to Have Retired From Music, Wants to "Be Normal"
“I wanna wake up in 2013”
It’s been a good one, but not a long one for Lil Uzi Vert. At just 24-years-old, the Philly emo rap star has seemingly pulled the plug on his music career. According to Stereogum, the “XO Tour Lif3” rapper announced his retirement in a recent Instagram story, declaring that he “deleted everything” and wants to “be normal.”
The announcement arrives just months after the release of his single “New Patek” in the lead up to his second studio album, Eternal Atake, which was slated for a 2019 drop. A few weeks back, Uzi appeared in an interview with Nardwuar, who had to literally chase him down after the rapper repeatedly questioned the legality of ecstasy in Canada and fled to his getaway vehicle in a fit of paranoia.
We’ll have to wait and see if the curtains remain closed on Lil Uzi Vert’s career. But this writer will, at the very least, miss the unbridled joy in watching Uzi gleefully run through every move in the book to the tune of his own music.
