From Bernie Sanders to Janet Jackson, D-Nice's Social Distancing Party Drew a Star-Powered Crowd
Featuring 10-hours of music, 100,000 viewers, and countless hats.
In just days, D-Nice's "Homeschoolin'" performances have transformed into a global, yet remote, sensation.
A daily Instagram Live set that began on Wednesday, last night's gathering (dubbed #ClubQuarantine,) commenced at 3PM PST and ran for nearly 10 hours, drawing a massive crowd of pedestrian and celebrity traffic, with everyone from Michelle Obama to Janet Jackson to Bernie Sanders and Stevie Wonder (who inexplicably has an Instagram account) tuning in. There are no hard numbers to reference, but the live session is rumored to have broken an Instagram record for viewership, topping 103,000 at one point in the evening.
"I never would’ve imagined that the best party I would create and DJ would be from the comfort of my own home," the DJ wrote in an Instagram post this morning (see below,) listing off some of the high-powered names in attendance. A Bronx native, D-Nice began his career as a member of Boogie Down Productions, transitioning to photography and full-time DJing over the last 20 years, establishing himself as a go-to-selector in marquee music circles.
The show returns today at 3PM and there's no telling who will turn up or how long it will run. Plug in via Instagram to find out.
