A new posthumous collection of the late icon’s work is arriving this month
Last week, Michael Jackson (king of pop, sultan of Motown, leader of the world’s first boy band) would have turned 59 years old.
This week, a tweet from his still-running Twitter account announced a new posthumous project from the estate with a short teaser for Scream, named after his 1995 collaborative cut with sister, Janet Jackson. Though it appears to be Fright Night-themed, little is known about the release or what it will comprise. If it is an album, Scream will mark the third posthumous collection from the Michael Jackson estate, following 2010’s Michael and the 2014’s Xscape, both of which are part of Sony’s extended distribution deal with the estate, originally promising 10 new album of previously unreleased material from Jackson’s back catalog.
We’ll see what this actually turns out to be in the weeks ahead, as Scream, whatever it is, arrived on September 29th. Watch the teaser clip above and stay tuned for more details as we creep closer to the due date.
The postumous 13-track collection Scream arrives on limited edition glow-in-the-dark vinyl on October 27th, featuring a grip of Michael Jackson’s most seasonally appropriate Fright Night anthems (“Thriller,” “Blood On The Dance Floor,” and more.)
