Ja Rule Cleared Of Wrongdoing In $100 Million Fyre Festival Lawsuit

"This ruling is nothing short of a total vindication of Mr. Atkins," Ja Rule's attorney said.

Ja Rule has been legally cleared in a major Fyre Festival lawsuit. In a report from Complex, the law firm of Geragos & Geragos (who represents the festival's attendees) tried to bring Rule (born Jeffrey Atkins) back into the $100 million class-action lawsuit. The suit is against Fyre Festival co-founder Billy McFarland and others responsible for the event.

A judge dismissed an appeal to include Rule on the suit. Previously, another judge had determined that the rapper and Fyre Festival chief marketing officer Grant Margolin didn't know how bad the festival was internally despite their efforts to promote the event.

Ryan Hayden Smith, Rule's lawyer, issued the following statement about the rapper being cleared of any wrongdoing.

"In July, the Court dismissed all Fyre Festival claims against Mr. Atkins," Smith said. "After this loss, plaintiffs’ law firm Geragos & Geragos appealed that decision. Today, the Court denied their appeal. This ruling is nothing short of a total vindication of Mr. Atkins."

Rule has previously spoken on the outcome of the Fyre Festival before.

"It's not funny to me, man," he told TMZ. "It’s heartbreaking to me. It was something that I really, really wanted to be special and amazing and it just didn’t turn out that way."

Rule has hinted at doing another festival, this time through an app called called ICONN that's strikingly similar to the Fyre app.

"[Fyre Fest] is the most iconic festival that never was, so I have plans to create the Iconnic music fest. But you ain’t hear it from me," he said.
