Kim Kardashian Teams with Monica to Help Free C-Murder from Prison

The New Orleans rapper was sentenced to life in prison in connection with the 2002 killing of 16-year-old Steven Thomas.

Kim Kardashian is campaigning for the release of Corey Miller, the former No Limit rapper who went by C-Murder.

The New Orleans rapper and brother of No Limit founder, Master P, was arrested in 2002 in connection with the killing of 16-year-old Steven Thomas. After seven years on house arrest and several rounds of appeals, Miller was sentenced to life in 2009 for Thomas’ murder. However, in the years following his sentence, multiple jurors and witnesses have come forward with accounts of being pressured by authorities to convict and testify against Miller, casting doubt on the ruling and the years of trials that lead to Miller’s conviction.

Now, the reality TV star seems poised to reopen Miller’s case. Kardashian took to Twitter this afternoon to advocate for Miller’s release and outline the circumstances surrounding the case. “True justice for the young man requires that the person who actually killed him be held responsible and that Corey Miller he returned home to his kids,” Kardashian wrote. She also announced the formation of a coalition comprising members of her REFORM Alliance organization and 90s r&b star, Monica, who also dated Miller before his incarceration.

It’s unclear what steps Kardashian and her team are taking to secure Miller’s release, but he wouldn’t be the first person to step out of lockup on account of her efforts. In 2018, Kardashian campaigned for the release of 63-year-old Alice Johnson, who spent 21-years in prison for a first-time non-violent drug offense in Tennessee. Johnson was granted clemency by Trump after a meeting with Kardashian, in which she reportedly pushed for Johnson’s release and discussed broader criminal justice reform initiatives.
