Kim Kardashian Seeking Justice For Gunna After He Was Denied Bond For A Third Time

Reality star and socialite Kim Kardashian claims that Atlanta rapper Gunna is being wrongfully imprisoned on gang-related charges.

Kim Kardashian is speaking up for Gunna. On Thursday (October 13), Kardashian posted her thoughts on Gunna's imprisonment on gang-related charges with the hashtag #FreeGunna after the rapper was denied bond for a third time. Gunna's trial date is scheduled for January 9, 2023.

"Imagine sitting in a jail cell for 155 days with no bond when the only evidence against you is a ticket for an unrelated window tint and someone saying you weren't in a gang," Kim began the post about Gunna, whose real name is Sergio Kitchens.

"That's where my friend Sergio finds himself today after having his bond denied for the third time despite there being zero evidence that he committed a crime."

Kardashian added that she had the "pleasure" of meeting Kitchens at the 2022 MET Gala in May, where the rapper asked her to look into his cousins legal case. The MET Gala event was held a little over a week before Kitchens was arrested on RICO charges on May 11. Also arrested around the same time was rapper and Kitchens' longtime friend Young Thug, along with select members of Atlanta-based music collective YSL.

Kardashian says that with the rapper being denied bond again, his trial is likely to be postponed, resulting in Kitchens' sitting in jail "even longer."

"Sergio deserves better and we all should demand better," she concluded.

In June, Kitchens wrote an open statement about the May arrest, proclaiming his innocence.

Although Kardashian is not a lawyer, she registered for the California State Bar to study law in 2018. The Kardashians star announced her decision to become a lawyer in April the following year, embarking on her journey of taking the bar exam, passing the baby bar exam in 2021. Following in the legal footsteps of her late father Robert Kardashian, Kardashian has recently been an advocate for criminal justice reform.
