Legendary rapper T.I. has released his first new album in four years.
The album is called Dime Trap and features 15 new songs from the rap vet. There are appearances from Meek Mill, Yo Gotti, Teyana Taylor, Young Thug, Jeezy, and more.
The album also features assistance from Dave Chappelle, who provides narration — as the voice inside T.I.’s head — throughout the album.
On Tuesday, October 2nd T.I. appeared on Beats 1 with Zane Lowe. He talked about the new album and the importance trap music has played in his career.
Let’s say if I was an alcoholic and spent 12 years of my life drinking day in, day out, and I’ve been fighting addiction. Finally realized I was an alcoholic, went through 12 step program, started to go to meetings and so and so forth. And now it’s been 15 years since I’ve been clean. Even though I hadn’t had a drink in 15 years, I can still tell you in great specific details of how it feels to be drunk, how liquor tastes and how it affected my life. I can lay it out to you in a way you’d understand and I can make it very vivid. And I think that is the same way I feel about trap music.
