The Philly duo makes it official.
Though this isn’t their first time recording and releasing music together, the Philly artists also paired up last year for their collaborative track, “Clear” produced by honorary Roots crew member, Ray Angry. But what makes this pairing fresh, is the artists joining forces to launch the band &More, making their industry debut during Grammy Week 2018 at The Roots Jam Session in January.
In a statement, Donn T, explained how the two met in the studio. “My intuitive connection with Chill is wacky and pretty strong,” she says. “I think it informs the creative process. In the artistic arena, we finish each other’s sentences. As a group, we’re amplified. We cover a lot of musical ground.”
On “My Own Light,” a D-tone Victorious/nicethingsMUSIC collaboration, Donn T lays rich vocals atop the track’s soulful landscape by guitarist/producer Jake Morelli. Ben “IAmBNJMIIN” Thomas mixed and mastered the track.
Chill Moody, who was once named“Best Rapper” by Philadelphia Magazine, reflected on the artists’ decision to pair up. “The crazy thing is; we both had the idea to create a group as opposed to just doing a few songs together and pretty much pitched the idea to each other at the same time. As we started completing songs we realized we were creating something special.” Chill says.
&More’s forthcoming debut album, Ethel Bobcat is slated for release later this year.
