Spike Lee and Pharrell break down the creative process in a chat about artistic inspiration and love for their respective crafts on Reserve Channel's ARTST TLK. Spike Lee talks about his journey into the business of filmmaking, which began after a friend casually gifted him a super 8 camera and blossomed in the summer of 1977 after he made the decision to film the looting and neighborhood unrest following a black-out during the hottest days of the summer in order to keep himself busy during a freeze on summer jobs. He also lists a number of his career inspirations, including Melvin Van Peebles, Gordon Parks and Oscar Micheaux. The chat filmed in New York City highlights the song of the summer phenomenon from "Fight The Power" - the iconic anthem from Lee's Do The Right Thing penned by Public Enemy - to Pharrell's "Blurred Lines." Lee also explains the borough of Brooklyn and its significance in his films and his life; he considers a number of his films to be successive chapters in a larger body of work he refers to as The Brooklyn Chronicles.
