Legendary funk man Steve Arrington recently sat with Red Bull Music Academy for a fireside chat about his life in music, including his time with 70s funk and soul band Slave and his influence on the west coast's celebrated g-funk sound. The Dayton, Ohio native has been sampled by a host of names in hip-hop and r&b including Snoop Dogg, A Tribe Called Quest and N.W.A. Arrington left the music business in the 90s, funneling his talents into a full time music ministry. Getting back around to the funk, Arrington dropped the Pure Thang LP in 2009. He followed that project with the 2013 Higher LP - a collaborative album with Cali funkateer DāM-FunK. Check the track below to find out what Steve Arrington's got coming up next. Stay tuned for more from RBMA Radio.
