Lauryn Hill To Receive ASCAP Rhythm & Soul 'Golden Note Award'

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

The lovely Miss Lauryn Hill (who just celebrated turning 40 years young) will soon add another plaque to her mantle. Hill is set to attend and accept ASCAP Rhythm & Soul's "Golden Note Award" for her  "ability to push boundaries and capture the humanity that surrounds us" says ASCAP chief Paul Williams, adding her name to a list of luminaries the includes Stevie Wonder, Pharrell, Dr. Dre and Alicia Keys, all of which have been granted the distinguished honors of being presented with ASCAP's  award. The ceremony will be an exclusive, invite-only affair at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles and will feature a performance from the soaring r&bstress known as Jazmine Sullivan. And while you'll probably have to no somebody knows somebody to take part in this prestigious proceeding, if you're an NYC local, you'll have your shot to see r&b queen in the flesh this summer at Louis Armstrong's Wonderful World Festival in Queens for the righteous price of free on June 20th. And seeing as how there could not be a more deserving talent in the r&b world, this here's a warm congratulations from the OKP crew and our constituents to Lauryn, still in awe of her voice and power in performance.
