Get Your Head Shook Up By Kaytranada's "A Loser's Celebration"
Kaytranada's BBC Radio 1 residency has gifted the world with what seems like countless unreleased gems by now. Last night was no exception, as the Canadian beat freaker let loose the shuffling and bustling never-heard joint "A Loser's Celebration" for the late night audiences across the pond and suppertime listeners stateside. According to a statement Kaytra posted with the track on his Tumblr, the track is from an EP he recorded for XL, but couldn't clear the sample "cause Jimmy Page don't play that shit."
But we certainly do, Kaytra. This shuffling, frenetic new-ish joint is quite the splice and dice job, a perfect accompaniment to your Friday night turn-up session, with a mean drum program, menacing strings and a bridge of sorts, laced with winding synths and some how bigger, more punctuating drums than the A section. And it all comes to an even, cooled-out cap with a shimmery, boom-bap touch. Kaytranada will be bringing his talents to stages far and wide over the next few months, so be sure to peep all of the dates along with this ill little one-off down below.
