Hamilton is still the hottest ticket on New York City's theater circuit, and for good reason. The hip-hop-infused retelling of America's beginnings presents a much-needed change in the nation contemplates itself, bringing persons of color and modern art forms to a place of prominence amongst the founding fathers. It's a production so monumental (and so hard-grooving) that none other than The Roots have been tapped to produce its official cast album, which has just been given a September 25th release date.

Pre-orders of the Hamilton cast album are already available on iTunes. A massive piece of work that totals 46 tracks, the record is a must-own for hip-hop fans, history buffs and theater junkies alike and is a bargain, even at its $19.99 price tag.

The album will feature Hamilton director, writer and lead actor Lin-Manuel Miranda, along with original cast member Jonathan Groff. "[A]long comes Hamilton," Questlove has said of the play, "like, dude, finally a reason to come to Broadway. First authentic hip-hop show. Authentic, kinetic and entirely original, the show has gotten nothing but singing praise from critics and ticket-buying everymen alike. Watch a video snippet of Hamilton below and get set for the dopest Tony (and perhaps Grammy) contender of a cast recording you've ever heard.

Also, it seems Black Thought and the cast have been getting busy in an extra-curricular way...
