Betty Jo Shelby, the white Tulsa, Oklahoma police officer who fatally shot an unarmed black man named Terence Crutcher, has been found not guilty of first-degree manslaughter. It took the juror nine hours to come up with a verdict.

After the verdict was announced, there was a crowd of people outside to protest the decision.Crutcher’s father, Rev. Joey Crutcher, said after the verdict was announced: “Let it be known that I believe in my heart that Betty Shelby got away with murder.”

Crutcher’s twin sister, Tiffany Crutcher, also spoke out against the verdict, saying: “Terence was not the aggressor; Betty Shelby was the aggressor.”

The Oklahoma governor, republican Mary Fallin, released a statement after the decision was announced.

In September 2016, Shelby was one of many officers who responded to reports of an SUV that was left abandoned in the middle of a road. The SUV belonged to Crutcher. As Crutcher walked up to his vehicle, with his hands up, police officers were yelling commands at him, which he did not follow. One officer fired a taser at him and Shelby fired shots.

Later on, Shelby would say that she has never been “so scared” in her life.

The shooting became a national story after the dashboard footage was released and showed that Crutcher was not a threat. Also, overheard in the video was one of the officers saying Crutcher, who was a father of four, was “a bad dude.”

As of a couple of hours ago, there were protesters in the streets of Tulsa.

This is my opinion and should not be construed as fact not subject to error.

    Another
jury, bound by the applicable law, just gave the police a license to
murder any of us again. And sure as there is a tomorrow, someone’s car
will break down, they’ll throw their hands in the air in frustration,
some drama queen will call the police and report them by blowing the
story up to sound threatening because that’s what makes the drama
queen’s chaotic life feel important and right. A dispatcher will pile
suspicion on top of the story because it makes their job seem more
    significant and insure the responding
officer’s safety because they’ll have an entire police force accusing
them if they don’t and something goes wrong. A policeman who’s afraid
of everyone because he’s such a psychopathic bully that he sees the same
in everyone else will respond with movie theatre drama and a mindset
that he’s going home whether anyone else does or not. His most
intense focus will be, through habitual training with his weapon,
with having his own safety prioritized and drilled into his head as
paramount above all else at all times, and surrounding himself with
like-minded people who’s priorities have been roboticized into an
identical objective of acquiring as rapidly as possible, with the least
risk possible, the collection of a legal minimum number of trigger events
necessary to shoot someone dead. And with the warm feeling of having
the Supreme Court behind them, the naive public who don’t know what
police really do much of the time, and an amazingly feeble collection of
necessary elements to justify the use of deadly force, Mr. Good
Guy will execute a perfectly innocent citizen for no other reason than
he is an overtrained paranoid psychopath conditioned to instantly respond with deadly force and ideologically supported by
others just like him, the law, and an amazingly uninformed
public. And then a jury just like this one will call it a tragedy and
send him on his way to do it again. And it will all be perfectly
legal and perfectly wrong by any standard of decency that any honest,
decent person could apply. And this guarantees that you will be reading
about it soon, given there are currently about three deaths caused by
police every day, not to mention 50,000 people sent to the emergency
room every year. If it bothers you that police are shooting people that
you wouldn’t even think to be afraid of, read the Supreme Court law and
find out just how easy it is to kill or murder someone when you’re a
    police officer.

I’m not accusing the police officer
involved in this shooting of wrongdoing. All I know for sure is that
people shouldn’t die just because their car breaks down and the police
suspect they’re acting strangely. The police accuse people of
wrongdoing in the ordinary course of their work, and whether they’re
actually guilty or not. Within the context of their self-preservation training, everything can theoretically be construed as strange behavior.
When you’re trained to find wrong in everyone for your own safety,
everyone appears wrong with dangerous frequency and if you haven’t the ordinary self-restraint that most would have in taking a life, it’s just a matter of time before someone dies unnecessarily. Help stop these
killings. People should not be at risk of serious bodily injury or
death simply because the police respond to an event. It makes absolutely no sense whatsoever to dispatch people who are trained to instantly dispatch deadly force in a situation that doesn’t even elevate suspicion in the average person. Worrying that you’ll be shot to death because of some event that causes the police to be called is not quiet enjoyment of our home. It is the kind of fear that caused us to take up arms against our own country and begin a new one 240 years ago. This could have been any one of
    us that died.
We don’t deserve a police state, especially one that provides no justice for it’s victims. Support the States Convention initiative that will allow the People to Amend the Constitution. Spread the word. If we don’t stop this government, we’ll die from it’s abuses.

This is my opinion and should not be construed as fact not subject to error.
