Foundational hip-hop DJ Jam Master Jay would have turned 47 over the weekend (January 21st) and not surprisingly some of the rap world’s heavy hitters (and big dog pitbulls) were inspired to pay tribute. Chief among them is this modernized version of “Peter Piper” from DJ Jazzy Jeff and Señor Kaos (stream or download below) but you can get even longer enjoyment and deeper time travel from Funk Flex’s tribute mix (stream or download after the jump, via SC) which aired on Hot 97 in the fallen legends honor. “We gon’ ride out for Jam Master Jay.”
