'It Was Never About Me': Colin Kaepernick Completes $1 Million Donation Goal

"I will donate one million dollars plus all the proceeds of my jersey sales from the 2016 season to organizations working in oppressed communities, 100k a month for 10 months," Colin Kaepernicksaid when he originally began his Million Dollar Pledge.

Now, Kaepernick has accomplished his goal of donating $1 million.

"I started my #MillionDollarPledge to help organizations on the ground doing work in our communities. It was never for or about me - it has & always will be for the people. We have work to do & the only way to get it done is if we all work together," Kaepernick tweeted Wednesday night.

Over 40 different organizations received some sort of donation from Kaepernick including Mothers Against Police BrutalityBlack Youth ProjectAssata's Daughters, Coalition For The Homeless, and others.

Kaepernick was named the second most charitable celebrity by DoSomething.org's annual Celebs Gone Good list for 2017. The former NFL athlete appeared alongside others such as Beyoncé, Chance The RapperAva DuVernay, Rihanna,Ariana Grande, Nicki Minaj, Zendaya, Yara Shahidi, and J. J. Watt.

Last month Kaepernick, alongside Diddy and Steph Curry, expressed interest in wanting to purchase the Carolina Panthers after the team's owner, Jerry Richardson, expressed his desire to sell the NFL team amid allegations of sexual and racial misconduct toward former employees.

Following Richardson's announcement Diddy took to Instagram to voice his interest in purchasing the NFL team while also declaring that if he owned it he would sign Kaepernick.

Following the announcement both Kaepernick and Curry expressed interest in buying the team alongside Diddy. "I want in" Curry responded while Kaepernick said "I want in on this ownership group! Let's make it happen!"
