The genre-smashing singer takes the stage behind NPR's Tiny Desk
D∆WN (or sans-stylization, Dawn Richard) is the latest talent to line-up in the DC offices for NPR's smash Tiny Desk Concert series. She follows recent performers Khalid, Dave Chappelle, GZA, and Tyler, The Creator, on the small-screen staple.
For her set, the singer took the not-so-tiny stage with a guitarist, electronic drum specialist (blazing through those tripled hi-hats and 808s) and a pair of harmonizing agents, to run through selections from her breakout 2016 album, Redemption, along with "Waves," a swaggering one-off for Adult Swim (where the singer doubles and triples as the late-night network's first black female animator.) She pulls no punches and spares no precision in the tightly-choreographed three song outing.
