In October Dawn Richard, also known as D∆WN, released “Stopwatch,” a single made alongside frequent collaborator and producer Machinedrum. A nice mix of fuzzy and warm synths, and the syncopated rhythms of dancehall, “Stopwatch” was a welcoming reminder of the magic Dawn and Machinedrum create together, the track an accessible but still experimental pop song.
Now, the music video for “Stopwatch” has been released. The visuals compliment the warmth of the song as bright and vibrant colors pop in every scene. Palm trees transform into psychedelic blends of crimson and green while Dawn plays multiple roles of herself, including an astronaut and samurai.
“Ain’t got no time / To waste anytime on you,” she sings throughout the song’s chorus. You can’t say she didn’t warn you — Dawn is out here living her best life in more ways then one and she’s not stopping for anybody but herself.
