The project is called Iconology, and it's a five-track EP. (One of the tracks is acapella version of another song.) With the release of the EP came a new video, for "Throw it Back."
If the project turns out to be an album, it'll be Missy's first album in 14 years. She released her last album, The Cookbook, back in 2005. Iconology drops at midnight tonight (Thursday).
The icon will also perform at the ceremony before accepting the award which honors artists for their contributions to the world of music videos. Past recipients include Beyoncé, Rihanna, Madonna, Kanye West, and Britney Spears.
“Missy’s impact on the music landscape is indelible,” head of music and music talent at Viacom Bruce Gillmer said in a press release. “Her creative vision across production, performance and songwriting is unmatched.”
