Missy Elliott to Receive Video Vanguard Award at the 2019 MTV VMAs

Missy Elliott will be the recipient of the Video Vanguard Award at the 2019 MTV VMAs.
The icon will also perform at the ceremony before accepting the award which honors artists for their contributions to the world of music videos. Past recipients include Beyoncé, Rihanna, Madonna, Kanye West, and Britney Spears.
“Missy’s impact on the music landscape is indelible,” head of music and music talent at Viacom Bruce Gillmer said in a press release. “Her creative vision across production, performance and songwriting is unmatched.”

Elliott responded to the long overdue news on Twitter Monday (August 11), writing, “I Thank my FANS “Supafriends” who fought diligently to see this day come,” adding, “Thank you all again over 2 decades of support.”

The VMAs is slated to take place Monday, August 26 at the Prudential Center in New Jersey.
