The Round-Up: Best Songs of The Week - ft. Toro y Moi, Gucci Mane, Little Simz, and More [Playlist]

Toro Y Moi Announces New Album 'Outer Peace' With Music Video Source: YouTube

A fresh batch of essentials for your weekend wind-down.

Good morning and happy first Friday of the last month of a lop-sided 2018. With Release Day finally easing up on the gas, there's only a pair of long-plays to put back (as opposed to the mile-high weekly pile to which we've grown increasingly accustomed.)

Gucci Mane closed out 2018 with a mountain of strip club anthems on his surprise album, Evil Genius. And Benny Blanco broke out from pop's protected inner-circle with his sweet and stout debut album, Friends Keep Secrets.

Singles stole the show, though, signaling the promising and fruitful new year we all need. Chaz Bundick snuck out another buoyant boogie lean from his forthcoming Toro y Moi project, Outer Peace. Frank Ocean collaborators Jarami dipped back into the frictionless and funky house palette with "Bahia," a selection from their freshly released four-track EP. British jazz hero Kamal Williams shared the frantic and ferocious electric Miles homage, "Snitches Brew." Wiki linked with London's Obongjayar for a cold dose of "Elixir." Saba kept to the hot-streak with high-swung romance raps on his latest single "Papaya," featuring daedaePIVOT. Little Simz returned with rapid-fire delivery on the playful new cut, "101FM." And that's only half the script.
