Your Old Droog Takes A Turn On The Weeknd's Kanye-Produced "Tell Your Friends"

Lenny Kravitz, Grace Jones, Lauryn Hill, Lion Babe, Thundercat, SZA & More Rock The Afropunk Festival 2015 in Brooklyn, NY.

The Brooklyn lyrical bomber Your Old Droog dropped a little Labor Day gift for us all, unleashing his talent over the Kanye West-produced instrumental of The Weeknd's "Tell Your Friends." Droog opens the track with a few lurid boasts that seem right in step with The Weeknd's usual boudoir rhetoric, but then quickly counters with "All my dudes who ain't the shit / This ya anthem." Is the Coney Island rapper getting his, or just getting in his self-deprecation? Either way, we're glad he's back in our headphones, and over a classic sample that's been chopped by everyone from No I.D. to Hi-Tek.

Droog is still cruising strong off the release of his The Nicest EP, which came after a series of one-offs were shared with fans via his Soundcloud. This new spin on "Tell Your Friends" just serves as further proof that there's no telling what the man might jump on. The results, though, are always the same: twisting, clever and comedic rhymes delivered in a rasp so, well raspy that our foolish asses once thought he was Nas. Listen to the track below, and as a bonus watch him freestyle live on RapIsOuttaControl.
