'Wonder Woman' Fights Through World War I In New Trailer

The first official trailer for Wonder Woman dropped today, which finds Diana Prince fighting through World War I.

"I used to want to save the world. This beautiful place," Prince, portrayed by Gal Gadot, says in the trailer. "But the closer you get, the more you see the great darkness within. I learned this the hard way, a long, long time ago."

The scene occurs around the same time as Batman v Superman, with Prince looking at an old photo of her and Steve Trevor (Chris Pine), as the trailer then goes back in time to the war.

The action packed trailer finds Wonder Woman banding together with Trevor, an American pilot that has landed on the isolated island the superhero resides on. He tells her about a world war that is happening, which results with her leaving with him in hopes of stopping it.

"It is our sacred duty to defend the world. And that's what I'm going to do," Prince says. We see her take a war torn battlefield in her distinguishable superhero garb, deflecting bullets from her bracelets, and using her Lasso of Truth.

Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how director Patty Jenkins brings Wonder Woman to life for her first ever live action film.

As reported before the DC Cinematic Universe is introducing fans of Wonder Woman to a younger version of the character.

"We go back 100 years to when [Wonder Woman] is more naive," Gadot said in an interview with Digital Spy earlier this year. "She's this young idealist. She's pure. Very different to the experienced, super-confident, grown-up woman you've seen."

Wonder Woman is scheduled to be released on June 2, 2017, several months before the expected drop of the Justice League film (November 17, 2017).
