Saturday Night Live set its sights on Jack Harlow during its April 11 show, in a viral sketch that was so on the mark that it even fooled Harlow’s own aunt. The bit centered on online criticism Harlow has faced since the release of his soul-leaning latest album, Monica

Cast member Ben Marshall appeared dressed as Harlow at the desk during the “Weekend Update” segment with Michael Che, where he was introduced as “the white rapper who recently made headlines for describing the sound of his new album by saying, ‘I got blacker.’”

Marshall-as-Harlow referenced the online criticism of Harlow’s album, and listed off nicknames from social media like “D’Anglo” and “Mos Definitely Not.”

Harlow himself seemed to take the viral skit in stride, and he shared that it was so convincing that his aunt “actually thought that was me.” In an Instagram story, Harlow wrote, “My aunt texted me and told me she was proud of me for going on SNL and addressing everything.”

The April 11 episode of SNL was hosted by Colman Domingo and featured Brazilian pop star Anitta as the musical guest. The Harlow sketch actually didn’t air during the episode; it was cut for time. But once it was released online, it quickly became a viral hit.
