Chaz Bundick's return to the Toro Y Moi moniker has come with the realization that your boy's range of influence isn't solely limited to the worlds of r&b and funk. If the last few releases from his upcoming What For? LP have taught us anything, it's that shades of indie and prog rock also creep into the picture. Nowhere is that better displayed than his new single "Run Baby Run," completely departing from that shimmery disco-ish palette we'd heard on its predecessor "Buffalo" just a few weeks back. Like all we've heard from What For?, guitars drive this gritty, garage-y groove with Bundick's mid-range croon chiming in on a poppy hook. Despite the apparent departure from the funk, it's still highly enjoyable and proves that the new record will be as dynamic an offering as we've received from TYM. If you've yet to do so, jump back and peep the other morsels from What For? and if your ears remain pleased, preorder the record on iTunes ahead of it April 7th release via Carpark Records. Listen to Toro Y Moi's latest single "Run Baby Run" below.
