Sampha Announces Debut Album 'Process', Shares New Single "Blood On Me"
Sampha‘s back on the scene and appears to be here to stay. He’s popped up on tracks with SBTRKT (“TBD,”) Kanye West (“Saint Pablo”)and more recently, on Frank Ocean‘s Endless album cut, “Alabama.” We’ve even heard a few loose haunts from the London based vocalist with the release of “Timmy’s Prayer” and “Plastic 100°C” (performed with devastating beauty a top the Young Turks HQ.)
Today he announces his debut album Process with the release of the relentless new single “Blood On Me.” Picking up the pace a bit (compared to the burn-slow ballads that have become something of a hallmark since his 2013 debut, Dual,) the new cut finds his affectionate howl hugging programmed drums and a bed of punctuating piano work. And Sampha’s voice is brilliant as ever, showing range and texture with every breathy exertion. Listen to the new track down below (preferably on headphones or decent speakers) and hold tight for details on the album, which has yet to be stamped with an official release date. If we’re to read his Instagram correctly, we can also expect a tour to follow in the months to come. Suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.
