Patti LaBelle Made Her Own Holiday Cooking Special w/ James Wright Chanel
We had a hunch this was coming. Patti LaBelle and her at-present number 1 fan James Wright Chanel have reportedly filmed a cooking special together, which will air on the Cooking Channel before the end of the year.
News of the new show comes from People Magazine, who reported that the actual first meeting between Labelle and Chanel took place on the set of the show. This means that filming predated their delightful Thanksgiving dinner and sing-a-long. The all-important sweet potato pies are indeed a key part of their program. “He’s a great sous chef, I found out,” LaBelle said.
"It’s one of those blessed stories,” LaBelle told the magazine. “For his birthday, which is Thanksgiving, we were at my home. I invited him to dinner before I even met him.” The two have reportedly become close friends, which, given their affection for holiday pastries and soaring melodies, isn't at all surprising. LaBelle described herself as both a mentor and "mother figure for Chanel," and from the sound of things Wright is feeling the same sort of love for his musical idol.
