Erykah Badu rules the world right now. After bowling over the music industry with her brilliant mixtape "But You Cain't Hold My Phone" and setting fire to New York's Kings Theatre just last evening, news has just arrived that she'll be once again returning to the silver screen.
Variety reports that Erykah Badu will star in the upcoming film The Land, an indie drama set to premiere at January's Sunday Film Festival. Specifics on Ms. B's role haven't yet been shared, but we do know that the picture centers around four boys who commit to escaping the harsh streets of Cleveland--to skateboard on the pro circuit. Drugs, crime and danger all come into play, as the boys are tested by fame, success and tragedy.
The Land will be executive produced by none other than Nas, who will also produce its original soundtrack. Director Steve Caple Jr. is at the helm of the entire project. Variety notes that in addition to Erykah Badu, The Land will star Moises Arias, Rafi Gavron, Michael K. Williams, Kim Coates, Machine Gun Kelly, Jorge Lendeborg Jr. and Ezri Walker.
