If you're alive and listening to music in 2016, from 2016, PARTYNEXTDOOR has been an inescapable force. The Toronto singer, songwriter and producer landed his first solo hit with the moody and lovelorn Drake collaboration "Come And See Me" (covered by both SZA and Erykah Badu, respectively) and is notably the writer of what is arguably the year's biggest single in Rihanna's "Work," bearing a distinctive dancehall flair that's become a staple of the Toronto sound and pop music at-large.
Last night he released the new track "Not Nice," the second single off his forthcoming album P3, and for those that have kept an ear to the charts, it should be an easy recall to the OVO head honcho's smash "One Dance," proving that he might need to be a little more protective of those hooks and melodies. Either way, "Once Dance" similarities aside, it is an enjoyable cut even if it does come off as more of a jam/demo take of one of the biggest songs on the planet. Let's hope P3 has more than just Drake outtakes when it finally arrives on next Friday, July 29th. Hear PARTYNEXTDOOR's new single down below and pre-order your copy of the album on iTunes today.
